William "Bill" Lee Guest, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on February 4, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on June 15, 1946, in Cowpens South Carolina. William had a vibrant personality and will be fondly remembered for his love of life and his knack for laughter. He had a special talent for telling captivating stories that would fill any room with joy.
In his early years, William served in the US Navy and was trained as a PA at Mt. Sinai in New York. He also had the privilege of training with the Marines during his time in the military. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and gratitude for his country.
Outside of his military service, William cultivated various interests and hobbies. He was an avid reader who found solace and inspiration within the pages of books. His insatiable curiosity led him to delve into diverse subjects such as history and the Bible. William's thirst for knowledge was infectious, and he always found joy in sharing his discoveries with others.
One of William's favorite pastimes was watching war movies. The heroism displayed on screen resonated deeply with him and served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have served their country. Through these movies, he found a way to honor and pay homage to the brave men and women who fought for freedom.
William held dear his ties to his birthplace in Cowpens South Carolina but eventually settled in Stockbridge Georgia, where he peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
William's memory will forever be cherished by his devoted wife Min "Helen" Qian Guest, son Steven Zhou, sister Anne L. Guest Mullinax, brother Jerry Guest, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents Joel Estes Guest & Irene, brothers Joel Ray Guest and Carl Edward Guest, and sisters Juanita West, Mary Ruth Tatum, and Martha Price.
A memorial service to celebrate William's life will be held on February 10, 2024, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church located at 250 Mt Olive Rd in Cowpens, South Carolina. The service will begin at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM.
William's departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories he created with those fortunate enough to have known him. May his infectious laughter, his love for stories, and his zest for life forever inspire us to embrace each day with gratitude and joy.
