Stan Bean

March 31, 1946 — February 5, 2022

Stanley D. (Stan) Bean, age 75, passed away on February 5, 2022.

Stan was born on March 31, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Deadrick and Edna Glasscock Bean. His only sister, Joyce Bean Ault and four of his brothers, Leon, Donald, Roy and Benny Bean also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann Bean, daughter Whitney (Matthew) Mike, two grandchildren Milla and Parker Mike, brother Doyal (Paula) Bean, sister-in-law Jeana Bean Pugliese, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Stan was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He was deployed for combat aboard the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier and the USS Constellation Aircraft Carrier. He remained a proud patriot throughout his life.

On Saturdays from September through December every year, Stan could be found in front of a television watching the Tennessee Vols football games. He was a fervent (rabid) fan whose wardrobe consisted of jeans, orange and white Vols shirts, and items his wife made him wear when he had to dress up. Stan’s collection of Vols memorabilia was second-to-none and was an ever-expanding work-in-progress. He loved all things Rocky Top.

Stan and Joyce moved to the Atlanta area in 1970, settling in Morrow, GA in 1983. He was a diligent, dependable employee throughout his career and retired (at age 70) from SouthernCarlson (Kentec, Inc.) after 18 years of service. After retirement, Stan busied himself by maintaining a beautiful yard and enjoying the birds, squirrels and other wildlife that found refuge on the property.  His favorite pastime was spending time with his beloved wife and grandchildren.

Plans for a memorial service have not been finalized at this time. The family would sincerely appreciate donations to these organizations in lieu of other forms of condolence:
