Obituary

Roy Felton Parker, a dedicated and esteemed long-distance truck driver, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at his residence in Jonesboro, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 14, 1931, in Pelham, Georgia, Roy led a life marked by commitment, professionalism, and an unwavering work ethic that spanned nearly four decades.

Roy's distinguished career as a long-distance truck driver began many years ago, during which he became a top driver for the Southeast Division. He proudly served Colonial for 14 years and devoted  28 years to Lockheed, accumulating an impressive total of 38 years behind the wheel. Remarkably, throughout his extensive career, Roy never had an accident, a testament to his skill, caution, and dedication to safety on the road.

Roy’s legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. He is dearly remembered by his devoted spouse, Sandra H. Parker, who stood steadfastly by his side throughout their life together. His family was the center of his world, including his sons Roger Dale Parker of Monticello, Georgia, and Wayne Hampton of Phoenix City, AL; daughters Gail North of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Rhonda L. Stewart of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Debra A. Hampton of Smith Station, Alabama, Barbara M. Ward, and Fay Whale. He was also cherished by his sister, Mary E. McDuffie of Albany, Georgia, as well as by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who brought joy and pride into his later years.

Roy’s passing leaves a profound void among those who knew him, as he was a pillar of strength and integrity both on and off the road. His family’s thoughts and memories of him will undoubtedly continue to inspire and comfort them through the days ahead.

The community is invited to pay their respects and celebrate Roy Felton Parker’s life during visitation and funeral services scheduled for May 4, 2026, at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, located at 6362 South Lee Street, Morrow, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.

Roy’s life is a lasting tribute to perseverance, responsibility, and loving devotion. His memory will remain forever etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
