Philibert Joshua Goodwill (Filiberto or Phil) was born on January 17, 1957 in Port Limon, Costa Rica to Mr. Philibert Leroy Goodwill and Mrs. Maria Teresa Goodwill. He departed this life in the early morning hours of November 27, 2021 in his parent’s home in Georgia, at the age of 64. Phil completed his primary education at Brooklyn 7th Day Adventist School, and his high school education at Garden State Academy in Tranquility, NJ. He attended Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD. Phil excelled academically and in athletics running track and field, and playing basketball. Phil was joined in holy matrimony to Tammaryn D. Alston on February 17, 1984. Two children were born to that union. Another child was born to Phil from a later relationship. Phil was employed as an Accounts Associate in the Accounting department of Pollinger, Shannon and Luchs for 28 years where he distinguished himself as a value professional. He also worked a night job for over 20 years as a Counselor at Fairfax County, VA Group Home for adult males with Down’s Syndrome disability where he was a highly esteemed part of the team. Both of the companies he worked for in the latter part of his life assert that he was retained in their employ for over 25 years because of his having proved himself an asset and a credit to their respective organizations. Phil was a long time member of the Sligo 7th Day Adventist Church in Takoma Park, MD where he was an active and enthusiastic Sabbath School teacher and participant. He also shared his outstanding singing voice, and trumpet and saxophone playing in worship at times during the years. Phil was known as someone who loved the Lord, and sought to please God in his life. Phil was preceded in death by his dear mother Mrs. Maria T. Goodwill, his sister Deyane Goodwill-Ladson, and younger brother Franz Mark Goodwill. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his three children: Phil J. Goodwill, Jr. (Marvel), Raena E. Goodwill, Joshua L. Goodwill, and grandchildren: Xavier, Julian, Niveah, Jeremiah, Aaliyah, Leilani, and Brielle, plus three step grandchildren: Benjamin, Eliana, and Jayden.
