Mary Lawson, a cherished matriarch, was born on April 20, 1937, and peacefully passed away on February 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and caregivers. Her departure from this earthly life has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Mary led a life filled with faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her gentle spirit touched everyone who crossed her path, leaving behind a warm legacy of kindness and compassion. She educated herself at the Washington Seminary for Girls in Atlanta, where she developed the values that would guide her throughout her life.
She leaves behind her three beloved children, Douglas Paul Lawson, Jr., Victoria Hope Lawson Kordys, and Kevin Darren Lawson, who will forever cherish the lessons she imparted and the love she freely gave. Her granddaughter, Meagan Whitney Lawson, carries forward the light of her spirit, and her cousins, Betty Johnston and Luticia Barnes, share in the remembrance of the joy she brought to their lives.
Mary's devoted husband of 71 years, Douglas Lawson, Sr., predeceased her, but their love story remains a testament to enduring commitment and affection. Although Mary has departed, her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. We rejoice in knowing she now rests in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A visitation will be held in her honor on February 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors in Morrow, Georgia. As we gather to celebrate her life, we invite all who knew her to share in the love and memories that she so generously gave throughout her remarkable journey.
