Larry J. Phillips, a remarkable man with a heart full of compassion and a lifetime dedicated to service, passed away peacefully at his home in Chatsworth, Georgia on December 13, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family as he embarked on his next great journey.

Born on June 16, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, Larry grew up with a love for his community and a passion for making a difference. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force for four years and receiving an honorable discharge, Larry began his successful career as an Aviation Mechanic at Delta Airlines working on DC3’s and ended his career as an Avionics Lead Mechanic overseeing technicians servicing technical aircraft like Boing 767 and Lockheed L1011. With unwavering dedication, he served the company for an impressive 32 years until he retired.

Larry's impact extended far beyond his professional achievements. Known for his pleasant demeanor and hardworking nature, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His sweet and kind disposition made him a cherished presence in the lives of many. Larry embodied graciousness and appreciation for the people around him.

Outside of work, Larry pursued various hobbies and interests that brought him joy. As a member of the Delta Pioneers for three decades, he fostered lasting friendships while sharing stories and memories with fellow aviation enthusiasts. Larry found solace in working in his yard and garden; there was nothing more satisfying than watching his plants flourish under his care. Furthermore, airplanes held a special place in Larry's heart as a testament to both his career and passion.

In addition to these hobbies, Larry enjoyed expressing his creativity through woodwork projects that displayed both skill and artistry. When it came to relaxation, RVing with the Georgia Ramblers provided unparalleled adventures for Larry and his beloved wife Rachel.

Above all else, Larry considered his proudest accomplishments to be those related to family. For 57 wonderful years, he shared an unbreakable bond with Rachel as they navigated life's joys and challenges together. Larry cherished their journey, finding solace, support, and endless love in their partnership.
