Kathleen Peacock

November 14, 1947 — October 7, 2022

Kathleen Rudd Peacock, 74, formerly of Jonesboro, passed from this life October 7, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.  Services will be held at Morrow United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.  The family will be receiving friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Gadsden, Alabama, Kathleen moved to Decatur, Georgia as a young girl and the third child in a family of seven.  Meeting and marrying her husband Bill Peacock in the late '80s, her home had been in Jonesboro since that time.

Having a life-long passion for quilting after being taught how to quilt by her grandmother, Kathleen produced many, many gorgeous quilts throughout her life and was very involved in the quilting community in Clayton County and throughout Georgia.  She was the first president of the Busy Needles Quilt Guild and active member and previous office holder in the Tara Quilt Guild, Helpful Friends Quilt Guild, and Timeless Stitchers Quilt Guild.  She was involved through the guilds with fund raising for the Humane Society and with Quilts of Valor, an organization providing quilts to military members.  Kathleen was pleased and proud to have been selected to be part of The Georgia Quilt Project for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.  Her quilt was presented to the Olympic Flag Bearer from Poland.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, William C. Peacock, III; parents, William Enix Rudd and Mary Kathryn Wall Rudd; sister, Anna Lee Martin; brothers, William David Rudd, John Edward Rudd, Walter Jefferson Rudd; stepson, William C. Peacock, IV; and nephew, William Paul Rudd.  She is survived by her sons, Benjamin Ross Adams (Cynthia) of Plant City, Florida, and William Joseph Peacock (Abie) of the Atlanta area; daughter, Virginia Lee Hall (Jon) recently of Mount Dora, Florida; sisters, Mary Virginia Pratt (Chris) of Petaluma, California, and Venita Gail Rudd of Alto, Georgia; grandchildren, Connery Vincent Hall and Enix Scott Peacock.  Kathleen is also survived by stepchildren, Robert E. (Pennie) Peacock and Barbara Jean Piecinsky; step-grandchildren, John, Robbie, and Greg (Lindsay) Peacock, Jena Merchant Powell (Andrew), Raven Piecinsky Perry, and Chamberlin and Dakota Piencsky; nieces, Mary Sokolowsky (Michael) of Gainesville, and Amy Cortez of Cornelia; nephews, John Rudd (Jennifer) of Statham, and Cody Broome (Aarien) of Lula.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association and to Morrow United Methodist Church in memory of Kathleen.
