Karla Sue Deming

Karla Sue Deming, 65, of Morrow, GA, passed away on October 20, 2023.

Karla will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving family members. She is survived by her sisters Karen Koorn (Okko) and Kristi Iwan (David), her brother Kevin Deming (Lynn), and her beloved nieces and nephews: Megan Rowland (Albert), Anna Bird (Carl), Seth Iwan (Kristen), Emma Iwan (Connor Preston), Timothy Koorn (Lara), Joshua Koorn, Caleb Iwan (Katherine), and Audrea Deming.

Throughout her life, Karla dedicated herself to the field of education, particularly in the special education sector. For an impressive span of 35 years, she passionately taught blind children. Notably, during her time in Peru, she embarked on the noble task of translating the New Testament bible into braille.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Karla found great joy in various hobbies. Her hands were skilled in embroidery, crochet, and tatting lace. These creative pursuits brought out her artistic spirit and allowed her to express herself uniquely.

Additionally, Karla had a kind and nurturing heart for animals. She happily opened her home to dogs and cats from rescue shelters, providing them with love and care.

A memorial service in remembrance of Karla Sue Deming will be held at the Chapel of Thomas L. Scroggs FD on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 1PM. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 12PM-1PM at the funeral home.

While we mourn the loss of Karla's physical presence among us, we take solace in knowing that her impact as a teacher, a creative soul, and an animal lover lives on in the hearts and memories of those she touched.
