Joy Heather Regan

July 10, 1937 — November 24, 2022

Joy, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away at home in Atlanta, Georgia on 24 November 2022 with her daughter Sarah and grandson Dominic at her side.

Born in Winchester, England (UK) to “Bessie” Gladys (Crabb) and George Henry Kellaway on 10 July 1937.   Joy grew up in a small family including older brother William “Bill” Charles Henry Kellaway, and after losing her mother at a young age, her step-mother Flossie Maud.  She spent her formative years in Southampton with lifelong friend (Lil) by her side.  After finishing primary school, Joy worked in several coffee shops and restaurants.

In 1965, Joy married Daniel “Dan” Regan.  They raised three children – Daniel Jr., Lyn and Sarah — during their globetrotting Air Force career that took them back and forth between Europe and the USA.   They were married from 1965 till 1999.

While being a full time wife and mother, Joy worked her way up, as a U.S. Government Civilian, from a store room clerk though the ranks culminating as an Assistant Club Manager in Germany; at the time (1980s) she was the only female club manager in all of Europe.

Since retiring in 1990, Joy enjoyed travel and frequently visited friends and family across the USA and Europe; especially her extended families in California and England.  She especially enjoyed using her iPad for keeping up with the lives and adventures of her two surviving children, Daniel Jr. and Sarah, her six grandchildren: Heather (Jones), Daniel III, David, Shane, Troy and Dominic, her eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous other friends and colleagues.

Joy choose to be cremated and have her ashes returned to England to be buried at her family church in Nursling.  There will not be memorial service in the USA and we hope to take mom home in the late spring/early summer of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, and if desired, contributions would be appreciated for the America Cancer Society.
