John Robert Wilhelm

John Robert Wilhelm, 79, of Lake City, passed away at his home on March 19, 2021 while surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1941 in Salisbury, North Carolina to the late John Arthur Wilhelm and Nellie Jacob Wilhelm. He was a loving husband, father and Papaw.

Services will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 12 PM. The family will be receiving friends at the church beginning at 10:30 AM, prior to service. Pastor Scott Ness and Pastor Justin Kolmeyer will be officiating. Interment will at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wilhelm was a retired mechanic from Delta Airlines. He served for the US Air Force and also served for Boy Scouts of America. He was a devoted member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, GA. He loved wood working, camping, watching NASCAR, and weekly restaurant gatherings with his friends and most of all, his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Wayne Wilhelm and brother-in-law, Sid Mantel.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Moose Wilhelm; daughter, Julie Wilhelm Phillips (Steve); son, Jeffrey Scott Wilhelm (Lea); sisters, Sarah Wilhelm Mantel and Jane Wilhelm; brother-in-law, Wayne Moose (Dolly); grandchildren, Ashley Phillips Watkins (Clay), Logan Phillips (Addie), Grayson Wilhelm (Chad), Kendall Wilhelm, and Anna Phillips (Lucas); great grandson, Cole Watkins.
