Jo Ann Brown Singleton

January 10, 1930 — May 18, 2023

Jo Ann Brown Singleton, 93, of Stockbridge passed on May 18, 2023. She was born on January 10, 1930 and raised in Monroe, Louisiana. She went on to attend LSU in Baton Rouge where she studied journalism. She married Glen Brown in 1949 .

She and Glen lived in several states; Louisiana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Oklahoma before settling in Forest Park in 1968. Glen passed away in 2003. She was remarried in 2008 to Leonard Singleton. He passed in 2020. She was an active member of Jones Memorial First United Methodist Church, teaching 4th grade Sunday school for many years. She was employed by Richway Department Store, 1974-1989.

She was loved and adored by her children and grandchildren. She truly was the sweetest, kindest and happiest person.  Her grandchildren all loved being with her and laughing at all her silliness. The Mammaw stories are many and legendary.  She provided the greatest example of how to love unconditionally.  She will be dearly missed, but her life lessons and love will live on through her children and grandchildren. She was our family's cherished treasure.

She was preceded in death by her parents, M. L. Meredith & Linnie Bailey Meredith, 4 older brothers, who affectionately called her Josie, 2 spouses: Glen Brown & Leonard Singleton, 2 children: Karen Lynn Breard, William McKinley (Bill) Brown.

She will be lovingly remembered by her 2 sons: Glen (Annette) Brown and Doug (Mary) Brown, 2 daughters: Sally (Joe) Bostwick and Janice (Robert) Tomasello, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends prior to service beginning at 1:00 pm.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her personal caregiver of 4 years, Christy Platte. Christy provided loving care and companionship that cannot be measured. Her family will be forever grateful to Christy. And, a big thank you to the staff of Benton House Assisted Living.
