Janice M. Wayte

April 5, 1942 — January 4, 2021

Janice M. Wayte, of Forest Park, passed away on January 4, 2021. She was born in Miami, FL on April 05, 1942 to the late Grady Turner and Jerrine (Jean) Adamson Turner. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960, earned an Associate's degree in the Arts from Clayton State College in 1980. She did so while raising a family. She went on to earn a BA from Georgia State University in 1988.  Mrs. Wayte worked at various churches in the metro area and was a pianist for over 30 years. She was also a swim instructor at the South Dekalb YMCA and the Forest Park Recreation Center for 25 years. During this time she got her scuba diving certification. In her spare time, she liked to go thrift store shopping and line-dancing. 

A memorial service will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Dave Fischer will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends prior to service beginning at 1:00 pm. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Evans. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Minnix Tomlinson (Rocky) of English, IN; sister, Harriett McGinn (Gainesville); brother, Richard Turner (Royston); grandchildren, Jonathan Jackson (Ashley), Laura Knight, Amanda Melton (Drake), Megan Thomas (Landon), great-grandchildren, Levi Womack, Logan Womack, Cecelia Tucker, and Raylynn Tucker, beloved dog, Chico, and numerous nieces and nephews.
