Ina Leona Blackburn, fondly known as "Granny," peacefully passed away in her home with her family by her side. She was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, in 1928, and her life was a tapestry of love, faith, and dedication.
Ina dedicated over 20 years of her life working as a Drafter for Bell South until she retired. However, her true calling was her close personal relationship with God, evident through her membership at Jones Memorial First United Methodist Church for 56 years. Ina was described as a good Christian woman who imparted those values to her children and their families.
Her compassionate and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who knew her. Ina was a beloved wife to her late husband of 59 years, Daniel Lester Blackburn, Sr., also known as "Papa." Together they created a legacy of love that continues through their children and grandchildren.
Ina's proudest accomplishments were her family, whom she cherished above all else. She is survived by her daughter Emily Blackburn Gilstrap, sons Michael R. Blackburn & wife Lynette Peterson, Daniel Lester Blackburn, Jr. & wife Tracey; sister Essie Reynolds; grandsons Keith Perkins & wife Renee, Andy Blackburn, Graham Gilstrap & wife Lauren, and William Gilstrap; granddaughters Jessica Duvall & husband Jay, Jennifer Clark & husband John, Mandy Chandler & husband Luke; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Lester Blackburn, Sr. and son-in-law, Lewis Earl Gilstrap, Jr.
She found joy in simple pleasures like bowling, crewelwork, traveling the United States with Daniel in their camper, and capturing memories through photography. Ina's legacy of being a good provider and caregiver will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Ina Leona Blackburn's presence will be deeply missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering faith.
