Emblem

Geoffrey "Jeff" Williamson, known for his unwavering work ethic and infectious sense of humor, passed away at his home in Morrow, Georgia on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 24, 1941. Jeff led a remarkable life as a dedicated general contractor, owning his own business for over 25 years. Even after his retirement, Jeff continued to live a very busy life spending time with his family, serving his church, helping friends, eating ice cream, and even winning first place in a bowling league.

Jeff was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army Military Police Corps (USAMPC). A true man of faith, he was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park for 43 years where he was an ordained deacon and served on many committees. Jeff found joy in various hobbies including his love of music, supporting the Atlanta Braves, camping with his family, coaching church league softball, fishing, hunting, golfing, water and snow skiing, sculpting, gardening, watching his grandchildren compete in various sports, and cheering on his beloved Michigan Wolverines. However, nothing gave him more joy than spending his mornings with the love of his life, Doris, while having their coffee together in their beautiful backyard (or in their recliners), enjoying God’s blessings.

Described as someone who never met a stranger, Jeff had a larger-than-life personality and a heart of gold who enjoyed bringing laughter to those around him. His loving and empathetic nature left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He was a firm believer in hard work and always offered words of encouragement and comfort to others. His optimistic outlook on life was evident through his famous motto: "Be a brave soldier."

Jeff's proudest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Doris Thompson Williamson; daughters Alison Williams (Robert), Shelley Williamson (Luke), Jennie Payne (Allen); son Geoffrey Brian Williamson (Loretta); grandchildren Kearsten Jones; Caroline Williams; Emma Williams; Samuel Williamson; Carter Geoffrey Barnett; in-laws Chuck Thompson (Shirley), Cary Thompson Sr. (Teresa), Susan Thompson; nieces Meg, Natalie, Julia, Breanne, Becki; nephew Cary Jr.; several great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Mildred Williamson; brother, Richard Douglas Williamson; father & mother-in-law, Charles & Dorothy Thompson; and brother-in-law Doyle Thompson.

In honoring Jeff's memory, we celebrate a man who lived life to the fullest while spreading joy wherever he went. His legacy of hard work, optimism, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Jeff's spirit will continue to inspire us to be brave soldiers in our own journeys. Jeff Williamson - a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, friend, and true servant of God - we will see you again one day and we love you always.
