Emily Ruth Parker, beloved mother to seven children, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1928 to the late Frank and Blonnie Mae Gibson.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Parker, Jr. ; her son, William Swint, Jr.; daughters Nancy Swint, and Shirley Gordy; her daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Robert Kay; her brothers, William V. Gibson, James E. Gibson, and sister Edna Blankenship.
She is survived by her sons, James A. Parker, III (Linda) and Michael Parker; her daughter, Lisa Parker; her son-in-law, Randy Gordy; her sister, Catherine Verbeck; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Service Details
The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 28, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, located at: 6362 South Lee Street, Morrow, GA 30260.
Interment will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, located at:722 Conley Road, Forest Park, GA 30297.
