Elizabeth "Ann" Twomey

January 3, 1942 — January 14, 2022

On Friday, January 14th Elizabeth Ann Twomey left us, stepped into Heaven, and began her eternity with God. She is preceded in death by William Bela Berry, her first husband and father of her children, and by Joseph Raymond Twomey, her second husband. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Paula Denise Berry Williams (Kenneth) of McDonough, GA; two sons, Larry Alan Berry (Michele) of Stockbridge, GA, Jeff Scott Berry (Charlotte) of Cedar Hill, TX.; her sister Deborah Fern Rodgers (“Jimmy”) of Chipley, FL; six grandchildren, Jacob Berry, Sammy Berry, Kiera Berry, Matthew Williams, David Hortman (Gwen), Brad Hortman; one great grandchild Lana Hortman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann loved big. First and foremost, she loved God. Born to parents who loved the Lord in a mighty way, as a preteen she became a follower of Christ and spent a lifetime serving Him.  She loved her family and always tried to show them through her love of God, cooking some amazing homemade goodies like biscuits and fudge, encouraging dreams, and protecting like a “mama bear.” Lastly, she loved the DAWGS.  Born in Athens, GA, she adopted a love for the college of her hometown and maintained her love for the University of Georgia Bulldogs throughout her life.

Her last few weeks with us were filled with celebration.  Surrounded by family and friends, she celebrated the birth of Christ, welcomed 2022, celebrated her 80th birthday, and the UGA victory to win the National Championship. On Friday, January 14th, she began her eternal celebration with Jesus.

Services will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor Archie Norman will be officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 pm - 8 pm.
