Viola Dianne Lunsford, 72, of Forest Park, Ga., passed away peacefully in her home on May 2, 2023, surrounded by family.
Dianne was born on Christmas Day 1950 in Atlanta, the oldest of four children. She graduated from Jonesboro High School, where in addition to all her education, she met the love of her life.
In 1969 she married her high school sweetheart, Roy Lunsford, and in January of this year, they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Bobby and Aaron, whom she loved dearly.
Dianne immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence with her kind smile, bright colors, and silly shoes. She loved her family and friends and filled her home with warmth and love. She was kind and caring to everyone she met, always trying to make them feel special and important.
She was a Godly woman, and a member of the South Fayette Church of Christ, and strived to always abide by the principles of the church. She was a founding member of the Forest Park Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT). An all-volunteer organization that works with public safety crews during emergencies. She was often known to carry a garbage bag, picking up litter in her community, while out walking for exercise.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert, Sr. and her mother, Hester Horton.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Roy Lunsford, her sons, and their wives, Robert and Summer Lunsford and Aaron and Katie Lunsford, Grandchildren Kylie, Eiron, Delaney, Dallis, Cody, Haylee, Jolie, Parker, and Wyatt. And great-grandchild, Barron. Also survived by her brothers, Robert Jr. (Gincy), John, and Derek (Jeannie) Also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends that are essentially family, and her beloved dog Rocket.
A celebration of life will be held at the Brooks Chapel, 961 Hwy 85 Connector, Brooks GA, on Saturday, May 27th starting at 1 pm. The family will receive guests immediately following until 4 pm. In place of flowers, please send donations to the Clayton County Animal Shelter in her name.
