IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Robert Huie
"Bob"
November 25, 1931 – February 9, 2026
It is with great sorrow that we announce Charles Robert "Bob" Huie, 94, of Morrow, GA passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Bob was born on Nov. 25, 1931 in Atlanta, GA to the late Edward Knox and Pattie Marler Huie. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1948. He worked at Smith Hardware in Forest Park until joining the Air Force in Feb 1951. While on leave he came home and met the love of his life, Rebecca Olivia Chambers. They married on Feb 10, 1952 and immediately left for Alexander, Louisiana. He then left in May 1952 for Chaumont Air Force Base in France, where he was stationed for 18 months. He spent 10 years in Virginia, England, California, Ohio and many other places before retiring full time service in 1961 and joining the Air Reserve, where he spent the next 26 years.
After his 10 year stint in the Air Force they moved to Ohio where Bob worked in the aviation medical research lab at Ohio State University from 1961 to 1965. They returned home to GA in 1965 to be closer to their ailing parents. He worked at Lockheed Martin in Marietta where he worked in the research facility as an Aeronautical Engineer until his retirement after 35 years. He loved the city and county he lived in. Right before retirement, and after, Dad served on the county Planning and Zoning Board and was on City Counsel for the city of Morrow for 18 years.
Bob was a family man before everything else. He was very involved in his kids, grandkids and great grandkids activities. He was a coach and umpire for Little League baseball and football. He went to every game whether softball, baseball, football or basketball. He went to chorus concerts, piano recitals, and band concerts. He loved animals and his family referred to him as the "pied piper" because any animal that was brought into the home became his. He took pride and enjoyment in working in the yard and doing wood working.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Rebecca Olivia Chambers Huie. Daughters: Laura Victoria Johnson (the late Billy), Robin Rebecca Folsom (the late Terry), Susan Huie Wright (Richard); Son: Allen Lee Huie (Sandra). Grandchildren: Ami Ruth Davis, Vicki Lynn Johnson, Billy Joe Johnson Jr "B.J.", Robert Allen Johnson, Shawn Allen Culver (Nancy), Jacob Cody Wright, Christopher Terry Folsom (Kathryn), Emily Ann Wright (Kaylie) and Morgan Rebecca Wright Gagnon (Taylor).
