Betty Hatchell White, of Morrow, passed away on July 30, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 5320 Phillips Dr., Morrow, Ga 30260 on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 AM with a covered dish luncheon to follow.
She is survived by her husband, George White; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Ray René of Atlanta; son, Alex P. White of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Mary Hatchell Barnes of Covington; granddaughter, Elza René; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Betty Hatchell White was a beloved music teacher in the South Metro Atlanta area for over 45 years. She was a former elementary music teacher in the Clayton County School System, operated a private piano studio and frequently adjudicated for a variety of music organizations. She served as a church pianist for Jones Memorial Methodist Church and was the choir director for Morrow United Methodist Church both in Clayton County.
In addition to these honors, Betty served as President of South Metro Atlanta Music Teachers Association (SMAMTA) from 1976-1978 and again from 2006-2008. She was President of the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) from 1996-1998. Betty was honored to receive Music Teachers National Association Foundation Fellow (MTNA) in 2013.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Betty Hatchell White Scholarship Fund.

She received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with emphasis in piano from the University of Georgia, where she was a student of Despy Karlas. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity and served as State Piano Chair of Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA).
