Allen Bruce Gill

August 10, 1944 — September 28, 2021

Allen B. Gill, 77, U.S. Marines Veteran, of Conley, passed away on September 28, 2021. His services will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Saturday, October 02, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Mark McKee and Dr. Tommy Aman will be officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home prior to service beginning at 11:00 am. Allen was born and raised in rural Pike County, Georgia. He grew up in a poor farming family with four brothers and six sisters. He excelled in school and his sense of devotion to his family grew into a sense of duty to his country. After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. Upon returning home, Allen got married to the love of his life, Ruth. They had three children together. Allen raised his family with a love of God, a love for his family, and a love for his brothers and sisters in Christ. He was a hard worker and a tough man with a gentle easy spirit. His passion for fishing and camping kept him grounded, but his belief in the Lord allowed him to soar. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Gill; daughters, Sylvia Blackmon (Patton) of Stockbridge and Crystal Richardson of Hickman, NE; son, Derek Gill (Karen) of Jonesboro, four sisters, two brothers, and his grandchildren, Tyler Blackmon, Austin Richardson, Kaitlyn Smith (Andrew), and Jacob Richardson, numerous nieces and nephews. If so desired, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church/General Fund, 6362 S. Lee St., Morrow, Ga. 30260.
