Lorrice Neal Worley Fort (Penny) died peacefully in Thomaston, Georgia on February 5, 2018 atthe age of 101.Penny is survived by her children, Patricia Jean, Gaines Herman, and Cheryl Ann; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Penny was born on September 12, 1916 in Atlanta, GA to Rossie and Gaines Worley. She graduated from Commercial High School in 1934. She married Isiah Herman Fort, Jr. (Ike), her high school sweetheart, on November 6, 1934. Penny and Ike resided in Atlanta, GA. Penny was employed by the Federal Government as a secretary for over 30 years. After retiring from the government, she worked part-time for the Humanities Department of Clayton State College. Her family remembers Penny as being strong, independent, and loving. She loved crossword puzzles and Wheel of Fortune. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro.A viewing is scheduled for Friday, February 9 at 10am at Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home in Morrow, followed by a service at 11am. A brief graveside dedication will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery; afterwards there will be a reception at the home of her granddaughter, Mandy Putnam Hoover.
