William Harrison "Harry" Phillips, Jr., age 92, of Forest Park, passed away Sept. 7, 2017. He was born in East Point, Ga. to the late William Harrison Phillips, Sr. and Odessa Crawley Phillips. Harry faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked his whole life as an ironworker, retiring at age 62. He was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church and Ironworkers Union #387. He loved to spend time with his family, enjoyed watching NASCAR and Westerns. Harry was a great story teller and loved a Varsity hotdog! He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and David "Skip" Phillips and is survived by his wife, Joyce Dunn Phillips; children, Harrison Phillips, Denver, CO.,Deborah (John) Miller, Jonesboro, Michele (Reg) Kirk, Douglasville; grandchildren, Evan Smith, Jonesboro, Lauren Smith, Johns Creek, Ross (Danielle) Phillips, Logan Phillips, Thomas (Dana) Feeney, all of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Carter and Emma Smith, Flowery Branch, Annie, Abraham, Christian and Samuel Feeney, Denver CO; sisters, Betty Buchanan, Riverdale, and Barbara Veal, Palmetto; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, Morrow. Dr. Richard Long will officiate. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Saturday, Sept. 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Jones Memorial United Methodist Church.
