Mr. John C. White of Jonesboro passed away March 22, 2017 at the age of 96. John was born in Cedar Key, FL. to Fred C. White and Grace Gardner White on Nov. 29, 1920. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Construction Battalion. John joined the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers in August of 1946 and worked as a brickmason for the BAC Local # 8 of Atlanta until 1957 when he was elected as the Local's Financial Secretary/Treasurer until his retirement in 1984. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Jones Memorial First United Methodist Church in Lake City followed by interment at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Dr. Rick Long will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday at 11:00 one hour prior to service time at the church. John was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Lenore White and sister Pearl Stephens and is survived by his sons, John F. C. White (Marilyn) of Gainesville, Fl and Steve White (Mary Ruth) of Jonesboro; daughter, Sheila Seddon of Forest Park; sister-in-law Julia Richardson of Blairsville; grandchildren, Chris White (Rene), Tim White, David White, Stephen White, Nicholas Ingram and Kevin Ingram (Andrea); great grandchildren, Sophia, Savannah, John Douglas, Sebastian and Julian; his best friend and companion Betty Lane; nieces and nephews.
