William James Rosenberry

William James Rosenberry of Riverdale passed away Sept. 23, 2016. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Forest Park, Ga. with interment to follow at College Park Cemetery. Pastor Sylvia Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.William James Rosenberry was born on January 19th 1929 in Emlenton Pennsylvania. His father Ross, his mother Effie, and sisters Luella and Marie completed the family. They were members of East Unity Presbyterian Church in Eau Claire PA. Due to his father's illness, Bill left school when he was only 14 to help on the farm. On May 27th 1950, William married the love of his life, Ruth Lucille Knoll. Bill served in the army in Korea during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1954. After he returned home, he supported his wife and four children, Kay, Evelyn, Randy and Cheryl by farming and working other jobs at the same time. The family left Pennsylvania in 1961 to move to Georgia for an employment opportunity at Knox Glass in Forest Park. Bill built his home from the ground up in Riverdale Georgia, doing the majority of the work himself. He continued to work at Knox Glass/Glass Containers until it closed. Then Bill worked at various jobs until he retired in 1994. After Ruth passed away in 1999, he married Marjorie Brown. As a member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon, elder, on various committees and helped out in the area homeless shelter. After the church closed its doors, he began attending Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. Bill enjoyed helping others. He spent many hours using his varied talents to act as a handyman for people who needed his skills. William also love to travel, visiting 49 states and 3 foreign countries in his travels. Bill was a man respected and loved by those who knew him. Mr. Rosenberry was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Ruth Lucille Rosenberry and grandson, Jeffrey Scott Trisch, he is survived his wife, Marjorie Rosenberry, Pittsburg, Pa.; daughters, Kay Van Wie of Stockbridge, Evelyn Davis (Larry) of Stockbridge and Cheryl De Loach of Oxford; son, Randy William Rosenberry (Wanda) of Reagan TN.; sister, Louella Stewart of Butler, PA. and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donation to the Gideons International for purchase of Bibles.
