Richard R. Jaeger III

Richard R. Jaeger III, 71, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away on May 24,2016 following a brief illness. Mr. Jaeger was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 6, 1945. He grew up in Marietta, Georgia, but has resided in Stockbridge for the past thirty years. Mr. Jaeger was predeceased by his son, Richard (Rob) Robert Jaeger IV and both his parents, Richard R Jaeger Jr. and Phyllis (Hickey) Jaeger of Marietta. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Durrance Jaeger; three daughters, Kathryn Jaeger Lee (Alex), Laura Jaeger Santos (Jerry), and Lesley Anne Jaeger; grandsons, Jae Ryan Santos and Elijah James Santos; brother, Jeffrey Coates Jaeger (Farin) of Marietta, Georgia; sisters, Mrs. Walter F. Hinson III (Susan) of Cary, NC and Mrs. Marshall T. Eckford (Jennifer) of Sarasota, Florida; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Jaeger enjoyed working with young people. He coached football, boys and girls basketball, and soccer for 15 years. He was involved with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for ten years and he worked with the pit crew for the Stockbridge High School Marching Band. Mr. Jaeger served in the US Navy aboard the USS Essex as an Air crewman. He worked in the transportation industry for 17 years and then retired from federal service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Morrow First United Methodist Church. Dr. Ed Judy officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5-8 pm. A private interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Richard R.
